We're thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our peaceful slice of secluded paradise on the Dancing Phoenix Farm, where you can enjoy unique farmstay experiences in South Dakota. Choose between two campsites nestled amidst the gently rolling land of the Southwestern Grasslands, about 20 minutes from SD44 and approximately 55 minutes from Rapid City. Please note that access involves driving on dirt and gravel roads with uneven terrain. This location is perfect for a quick overnighter while visiting nearby nature sights and parks in South Dakota. Pitch your tent or park your RV, camper, or bus in our pasture and enjoy stunning panoramic views of Hermosa's rolling hills, the Black Hills, and the Badlands, complemented by unobstructed sunrises and sunsets. Families are welcome, and children as well as leashed pets can join you at no extra cost. Each campsite is equipped with a table for outdoor dining and a nearby water spigot for your convenience. Current RV hookups consist of an extension cord to 220 power. Your campsite offers a wild and rustic experience amid the sometimes windy plains of South Dakota, which may not suit everyone, as extreme weather can occur in all seasons. When you stay with us, you’ll enjoy camping in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota—wild, raw, and rugged, with breathtaking views and a feeling of freedom that urban locations can't provide. While exploring the area, you may even encounter badgers, coyotes, deer, pronghorn, wild turkeys, and various other wildlife; just be mindful of mosquitoes and flies during the hotter summer months. A friendly barn cat named HERO might visit you too, but please refrain from feeding or approaching any wildlife. As stewards of the land, we are delighted to share this natural sanctuary with you; the stargazing here is unparalleled! Photography enthusiasts will love the breathtaking, photo-worthy scenery. Be sure to bring blankets and sleeping bags, as temperatures can drop below freezing at night, and prepare for winter conditions. Remember to check the local forecast before traveling. If you have experience in Food Forests, permaculture, farming, gardening, or Back to Eden practices and wish to contribute to our farm, we welcome your ideas for short or long-term arrangements. We're also excited to announce that we're building a small country store on the property, where you’ll find handcrafted tinctures, herbal oils, and organic herbs—perfect for gifts or personal use. In addition, we offer shower steamers, beeswax candles, herbal balms, and unique jewelry made from our kombucha scobies, along with organic products created from what we gather around the farm. Available for purchase are items such as 16 oz. propane, children's books written by Susi (featuring our adorable Bull Terrier, Makai), farm-fresh eggs when available, MayaMoon Ceremonial Cacao, sleeping bags, and Duraflame firelogs.
